How to Set Up the HighLevel Agent
Connect your GoHighLevel CRM to Blockli Assistant and manage contacts, pipelines, and marketing automations from a single chat
The Blockli HighLevel Agent is an AI-powered CRM and marketing automation assistant that connects directly to your GoHighLevel account through HighLevel's native MCP endpoint. It can manage contacts, pipelines, funnels, calendars, and marketing automations β all through natural language instructions in the Blockli chat.
Instead of logging into HighLevel separately, you can query your CRM data and trigger actions from within your WordPress admin.
Before setting up the HighLevel Agent, make sure you have:
- Blockli Assistant installed and connected to your Blockli account
- A GoHighLevel account with API access enabled
- An API access token generated from your HighLevel sub-account (Settings β API)
- Your GHL Location ID (found in your sub-account URL or account settings)
- A Max plan license (required for MCP server connections)
Navigate to Blockli Assistant β Create Agent in your WordPress sidebar.
Fill in the agent details:
- Name: HighLevel Agent
- Description: HighLevel CRM and marketing automation assistant. Manage contacts, funnels, pipelines, and marketing automations through Blockli.
- Avatar: Upload the HighLevel logo or any image you prefer
The Agent Preview on the right updates in real time as you type.
Scroll to the Instructions text area. This is the system prompt that defines how the agent behaves. Here is a recommended starting prompt:
You are a HighLevel CRM assistant. You help users manage their contacts, pipelines, funnels, calendars, and marketing automations inside GoHighLevel.
When managing contacts, always confirm details before creating or updating records. When working with pipelines, provide clear status updates on opportunities. Help users understand their funnel performance and suggest optimizations when appropriate.
Never delete contacts without explicit confirmation. When listing data, summarize the results clearly and offer follow-up actions.
Scroll down to Connect to MCP Server and enable the toggle.
You will see two tabs: Blockli Servers and Custom Server. Click the Blockli Servers tab, then click the Highlevel card. It highlights with a border and shows Added. A connection form expands below.
The HighLevel connection is simpler than most integrations β there is no OAuth flow. You only need two fields:
- Access Token β your HighLevel API access token. Generate this from your HighLevel sub-account under Settings β API. Copy the token and paste it here.
- Location ID β your GHL Location ID. You can find this in your HighLevel sub-account URL or in the account settings. It typically looks like a string of letters and numbers (e.g. 110411007T).
Click Connect (or Update Server). Blockli reaches out to HighLevel's native MCP endpoint at services.leadconnectorhq.com/mcp/, authenticates with your access token, and discovers all available tools.
Once the connection succeeds, the tool list appears below the form. HighLevel exposes tools for:
- Contact management β search, create, update, and manage contacts
- Pipeline operations β view and manage opportunities across pipeline stages
- Funnel data β access funnel performance and page analytics
- Calendar scheduling β manage appointments and booking calendars
- Marketing automations β trigger workflows and campaign actions
The exact tools available depend on your HighLevel account features and permissions.
All discovered tools are selected by default with Always approval β meaning the agent can use them without asking for confirmation each time.
The Approval dropdown is set to "Configured on a tool-specific basis", so you can customize per tool. For example:
- Set read operations (listing contacts, viewing pipelines) to Always
- Set write operations (creating contacts, moving pipeline stages) to require manual approval
- Set delete operations to Never if you want to prevent accidental data loss
Click the expand arrow on any tool to see its full description and parameters.
Click Create Agent (or Update Agent if editing). Your HighLevel Agent is now live.
Open a new chat and try commands like:
- Show me my recent contacts in HighLevel
- How many new contacts were added this week?
- What opportunities are in the negotiation stage?
- Create a contact for John Smith with email [email protected]
The AI uses the HighLevel MCP tools to execute these actions in real time against your GHL account.
The HighLevel integration has a few unique characteristics compared to other Blockli MCP servers:
- No OAuth flow β HighLevel uses a direct API token instead of OAuth authorization codes. This makes setup faster but means you need to manage token rotation manually if required.
- Native MCP endpoint β Unlike integrations like Nifty or FluentCRM that go through Blockli's MCP gateway, HighLevel provides its own MCP endpoint directly. Blockli connects to it at services.leadconnectorhq.com/mcp/.
- Location-scoped β Your access token and Location ID scope the agent to a specific HighLevel sub-account. To connect multiple locations, create separate agents with different credentials.
Invalid access token: Make sure you are using an API token from your HighLevel sub-account, not an agency-level token. Regenerate the token from Settings β API if needed.
Wrong Location ID: The Location ID must match the sub-account your token belongs to. Check the URL when logged into your sub-account β the location ID is in the path.
Tools not appearing: If the tool list does not populate after connecting, verify your token has the necessary API scopes enabled. Some HighLevel features require specific permissions.
Connection timeout: Ensure your site can reach services.leadconnectorhq.com. Some hosting firewalls block outbound API calls to external services.
Rate limits: HighLevel has API rate limits. If the agent is making many rapid requests, you may see temporary failures. Space out bulk operations or use the approval setting to add manual checkpoints.
The HighLevel Agent is part of Blockli Assistant and available on the Max plan. It connects directly to HighLevel's native MCP endpoint and is compatible with the Blockli chat interface.
